“Everything in the earth will perish. And the Face of your Lord, Dhu-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram (The One Possessing Majesty and Honour), will abide forever.” (Surah Ar-Rahman:27)
“Blessed be the name of your Lord, Dhu-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram (The One Possessing Majesty and Honour).” (Surah Ar-Rahman:78)
Allah, all praises and glory be to Him, is known by the name Dhu-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram, or the One Possessing Majesty and Honour. From this we understand that He is the One possessing greatness and grandeur, honour, mercy and generosity. He is the One who is most precious, revered and honored. He is the One Who honours His friends and close ones – those who glorify, exalt and love Him. He is the One who is the glorious and majestic Lord of all generosity and bounty, the possessor of all glory and honor. The One who is the owner of every blessing, perfection, honor and majesty. He is the One who is the source of awesome splendor and abundance.
We should remember that although certain blessings and gifts may arrive through human hands, we must offer all praise and honor to the True Source from which all blessings come, the One who is the Lord, Possessor and Bestower of Majesty and Honour, Dhu-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram.
