As-Samad (The Self-Sufficient)

“Say: He is Allah the One. Allah as-Samad.” (Surah Ikhlas [112]:1-2)

All praises be to Allah who is known by the Beautiful Name as-Samad, the Self-Sufficient.  He is the One upon whom the whole of creation relies. In the entire universe, all power belongs to Allah alone. He is the One who provides for our needs and necessities. He is the only One Who can remove our troubles or difficulties.

Sometimes people forget their Lord and take others as helpers. They think that these people or things can provide them with power, honor, and assistance. But this is a delusion, for there is no deity other than Allah, all power is with Him,and unless He wills otherwise, no one can help or harm anyone else. He tells us in the Qur’an:

“Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls on Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations? Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Little is that you remember!” ( Surah an-Naml [27]:62)

SubhanAllah. He is Allah, as-Samad, the Self-Sufficient and He is not in need of anyone or anything. His is unlimited perfection in all its manifestations. All praises be to Him.
