“Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage and they gained no advantage. Allah sufficed for the believers in the fighting. Allah is the strong, the Almighty.” (Surah al-Ahzab :25)
“Is not Allah sufficient for His servant? Yet they try to frighten you with those who they worship besides Him! And whomsoever Allah send astray, for him there will be no guide.” (Surah az-Zumar :36)
All praises be to Allah who is al-Kafi, the Sufficient, and He suffices His servants in everything they are in need of. He is sufficient for those who put their trust in Him and believe in Him, and He is sufficient for those who seek guidance from Him for all their religious and worldly affairs.
Those who don’t have a firm belief in Allah are afraid of many things, such as other people or natural disasters. Others worry about losing their possessions or their loved ones. But those with a firm belief in Allah do not have these worries. They know that Allah is sufficient to provide for their needs, and nothing happens without His permission. If we turn to Allah alone when we are faced with hardships, He will help us and answer our prayers. Allah is Al-Kafi, and He is sufficient for us. All other beings are powerless, and this knowledge means that we do not have to feel fear. Allah tells us:
“And whomsoever Allah guides, for him there will be no misleader. Is not Allah All-Mighty, Possessor of Retribution? And verily if you ask them ‘Who created the heavens and the earth?’ Surely, they will say ‘Allah (has created them)’ Say: ‘Tell me then the things that you invoke besides Allah – if Allah intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He (Allah) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?’ Say: ‘Sufficient for me is Allah; in Him those who trust (believers) must put their trust.'” (Surah az-Zumar :37-38)
